The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has announced the appointment of Engr. Chijioke Okwuokenye as its acting Managing Director, effective immediately. This move is part of the company’s ongoing transformation aimed at positioning AEDC as a leading, customer-focused electricity distribution company in Nigeria.

Okwuokenye, who previously served as the company’s Chief Operating Officer, brings a wealth of experience in the power sector to his new role. He is expected to drive efficiency and operational excellence across the company.

To complement this leadership change, Olumide Jerome has been appointed as the new Chief Operating Officer. Jerome, formerly a Chief Business Officer at AEDC, will be responsible for driving efficiency and operational excellence across the company.

The appointments come on the heels of the Transcorp-led consortium’s acquisition of a 60% stake in AEDC in May 2023. Since then, the company has been focused on upgrading infrastructure, expanding networks, and incorporating advanced technologies to improve power supply reliability.

AEDC serves millions of customers across Abuja, Kogi, Niger, and Nasarawa states and is committed to delivering dependable electricity while contributing to the socioeconomic development of the region.
