Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has praised the Dangote Group for its big role in bringing development and business growth to the state. The Governor described the company as a key partner in the effort to make Ogun State a top place for industries in Nigeria.
The Governor made these remarks during the opening of the 15th Gateway International Trade Fair taking place in Abeokuta. He was represented at the event by the State Commissioner for Industry, Trade, and Investment, Mr. Adebola Sofela.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Governor described the Dangote Group as “a truly exemplary strategic partner in our collective pursuit of industrial advancement and sustainable economic development.”
The Governor noted that for many years, the company has shown great dedication to building the nation through new ideas and hard work. He said this has helped make Ogun State more successful and able to compete with others.
“Through visionary investments, job creation, and consistent support for infrastructure and community growth, the Dangote Group has demonstrated what it means to be a responsible corporate citizen and a catalyst for broad-based development,” the Governor said.
He added that the partnership between the state and the company has created many opportunities for the people, boosted local businesses, and made Ogun State a favorite destination for investors. According to him, the way the government and the Dangote Group work together serves as a perfect example of how such friendships can bring real change.
The Governor also said that the Dangote Group is no longer seen just as a company putting money into the state, but as a “trusted ally” whose good work can be seen in the economy and the lives of the people.
Currently, the Dangote Group operates a massive cement plant in Ibese that produces 12 million metric tonnes of cement every year. To add to this, the company is building another cement plant in Itori which will produce 6 million metric tonnes annually once it is finished.
The President of the Ogun State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (OGUNCCIMA), Lion Niyi Oshiyemi, also spoke at the event. He thanked the management of the Dangote Group for always supporting the chamber and working to improve the economy.
“Today is not just the commencement of another trade fair but the celebration of collaborations, innovations, and shared prosperity,” Oshiyemi said. He noted that for the past 15 years, the trade fair has been a place where great ideas find support and businesses connect with the people who need their services.
