Dangote and Obasanjo Visit Burundi to Seal New Investment Deals
By Patience Ikpeme
Africa’s richest man and President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has visited Burundi to find new ways to invest and grow his business in the East African country.
The business mogul made the trip alongside former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo, to meet with the Burundian President, Evariste Ndayishimiye, at his official residence.
During the visit, Dangote explained that his main goal is to put money into African countries rather than looking outside the continent. He made it clear that Burundi is a key part of his plan to help Africa grow by building strong businesses within its borders.
“Our focus really is investing heavily in the African continent, not anywhere else, and so Burundi is part and parcel of that African region,” Dangote said after his meeting with the President.
To make sure these plans become a reality, two special teams have been set up to work together. One team represents the government of Burundi, while the other represents the Dangote Group. These experts will look for the best areas to start businesses and make sure the projects succeed for the benefit of everyone involved.
Dangote mentioned that he is looking at several important areas such as mining, electricity, farming, cement making, and building of roads and bridges. He said that the real aim of this move is to create a partnership where both his company and the people of Burundi can become wealthy and successful together.
The government of Burundi is very interested in this partnership because they want to improve their transport systems, factories, and power supply. They believe that having big African investors like Dangote will help change their economy for the better and make the country a place where other big businesses want to come and work.
Many people who follow African business say this visit is a huge win for Burundi. It shows that the country is now seen as a safe and good place for big investors to put their money. It also helps Dangote’s plan to have his businesses running in every corner of Africa.
