Dangote Refinery Explains Reorganisation, Assures Safety and Job Continuity
By Patience Ikpeme
The management of Dangote Petroleum Refinery has disclosed that its ongoing reorganisation is in response to intermittent cases of sabotage in different units of the facility, which posed serious safety risks and affected operational efficiency.
In a statement issued on Friday, the refinery explained that the exercise was not arbitrary but became necessary to safeguard the facility from repeated acts of sabotage and ensure uninterrupted operations.
According to the management, over 3,000 Nigerians continue to work actively at the refinery, with only a very small number of staff affected by the reorganisation.
Recruitment of local talent is ongoing through graduate trainee programmes and experienced hire processes.
The company added that it remains vigilant to its internal systems and vulnerabilities in order to protect the long-term stability of what it described as a strategic national asset.
It noted that the refinery’s safety and stability are essential for Nigerians, partners across Africa, and the thousands of people whose livelihoods depend on it.
On labour matters, the statement stressed that the refinery recognises internationally accepted labour principles, including workers’ freedom to decide whether or not to join a union. It assured that its commitment to workers’ rights remains firm.
Dangote Petroleum Refinery reiterated that its mission is to serve Nigerians, strengthen Africa’s energy independence, and create decent and sustainable jobs.
It pledged to continue working with employees, regulators, and stakeholders to uphold the highest standards of safety, transparency, and accountability.
