Dr. Mohammed Bello Shehu, Chairman of the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), recently held an interactive session with Commissioners, Management, and Staff of the Commission to foster collaboration and enhance operational efficiency.
The gathering, which took place on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at the Commission’s Headquarters in Abuja, served as an opportunity for the Chairman to introduce the new Commissioners to the staff and emphasize the importance of teamwork.
“The purpose of this gathering is to ensure that you meet with the new Commissioners,” Dr. Shehu stated. “I want each and every staff member to cooperate with the Commissioners—both returning and newly appointed ones—so that the work of the Commission can continue seamlessly. You have been cooperating with previous Commissioners; I expect that this same level of collaboration and understanding will be extended to the new ones.”
Dr. Shehu expressed his gratitude for the staff’s dedication and resilience over the years, acknowledging their contributions to the Commission’s achievements. He stressed that dedication to duty and teamwork are essential as the newly inaugurated Commissioners begin their work. “All your prayers, messages of goodwill, and the way you have been carrying on over the years despite the challenges have kept the Commission going,” he said. “We are grateful, and we pray that you continue to be dedicated to your duties so as to achieve our mandate and contribute meaningfully to the actualization of the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
He reiterated the need for continued support from management and staff, urging them to extend the same level of cooperation to the new Commissioners, emphasizing their vital roles in the Commission’s smooth operation. “I want each and every staff member to cooperate with them, both returning and newly appointed ones—so that the work of the Commission can continue seamlessly,” he emphasized.
Dr. Shehu also encouraged staff to work diligently, highlighting the potential for career growth within the Commission. “Any member of staff has a chance and an opportunity to someday become a Commissioner, a Secretary, or even the Chairman of this Commission,” he stated. “Believe me, it’s possible. That is why we are here—to build a future where hard work is recognized and rewarded.”
Engr. Joseph Okechukwu Nwaeze, Secretary to the Commission, who was represented by Mrs. Udodirim Okwongu, Director of the Inland Revenue Department, commended the Chairman and Commissioners for their leadership, which he said has encouraged staff to give their best in service to the nation.
Several Federal Commissioners who spoke at the event emphasized the importance of cooperation, team spirit, and strong collaboration among staff, noting that collective effort is crucial for the Commission to fulfill its mandate. Directors of various departments also reiterated their commitment to supporting the Chairman and the Federal Commissioners, pledging their continued dedication to the Commission’s goals.
The interactive session concluded with a sense of optimism, as staff members expressed their appreciation for Dr. Shehu’s leadership and reaffirmed their commitment to contributing to the Commission’s success. The event served as a platform to strengthen the bond between staff and leadership, setting the stage for enhanced collaboration and productivity within the RMAFC.
