Nigeria and France Seal €300 Million Deal to Boost Economy

The Federal Government of Nigeria has secured a €300 million development partnership with the French government.
This strategic alliance aims to bolster key sectors of the Nigerian economy, including healthcare, transportation, renewable energy, and agriculture.
The agreement was formalized on Friday, November 29, 2024, when Nigeria’s Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, signed two crucial documents with his French counterpart and the Agence Française de Développement (AFD).
Key areas of focus for the partnership include: improving access to quality healthcare services for Nigerians; enhancing infrastructure and connectivity; accelerating the transition to clean energy sources; boosting agricultural productivity and food security and nvesting in education and skills training.
Mr. Wale Edun expressed optimism about the partnership, stating that it signifies international confidence in Nigeria’s economic reforms. He emphasized the government’s commitment to implementing sustainable projects that will benefit the Nigerian people.
Rémi Rioux, CEO of AFD, reaffirmed the agency’s long-term support for Nigeria’s development goals. He highlighted the importance of efficient project implementation and emphasized AFD’s focus on sectors such as energy access, sustainable agriculture, and food security.
