Tax Made Easier: FIRS Revamps Slogan, Focuses on Customer Service
By Patience Ikpeme
The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) is making big changes to improve your tax experience! As part of a major refresh, FIRS has unveiled a new slogan, “Simplifying Tax, Maximising Revenue,” and created a special committee dedicated to improving customer service.
This move comes after FIRS leadership, led by Chairman Zacch Adedeji, decided to put taxpayers first. They want to make paying taxes easier and build trust with the public.
The winning slogan, “Simplifying Tax, Maximising Revenue,” was chosen through a competition open to all FIRS staff. Mohammed Gidado, from Bauchi State, came up with the winning motto, beating out nearly 1,000 other entries!
Chairman Adedeji says the new slogan reflects FIRS’s goal to make paying taxes less complicated while ensuring the government gets the resources it needs.
But the changes don’t stop there. FIRS has also created a Customer Service Optimisation Committee. This team will review how FIRS interacts with taxpayers and identify ways to make things smoother and faster. They’ll also be looking at how other countries handle tax collection to learn the best practices.
The goal is to make FIRS more transparent, efficient, and responsive to your needs. This, Adedeji believes, will lead to happier taxpayers who are more likely to pay their taxes on time.
