The National Pension Commission (PenCom) has secured the top spot among 50 regulatory agencies in the 2023 Ethics and Integrity Compliance Scorecard (EICS) assessment conducted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

This accolade highlights PenCom’s dedication to ethical conduct and operational efficiency.

While claiming the top position within regulatory agencies, PenCom also ranked an impressive 14th overall out of 404 Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) on the comprehensive scorecard. This remarkable performance further affirms the commission’s commitment to exceeding expectations across the public sector.

PenCom’s success in the EICS is attributed to its commendable score, described by the ICPC as “substantial compliance.” This recognition underscores the effectiveness of the commission’s established structures and processes in promoting efficiency and integrity within its operations.

The ICPC commended PenCom for its unwavering commitment to ethics and integrity, particularly praising its well-defined structures and processes. The commission further encouraged PenCom to maintain its high standards of service delivery, setting a positive example for other MDAs.

The EICS initiative, an annual endeavor by the ICPC, aims to assess MDAs’ compliance with ethical, statutory, and regulatory frameworks. This proactive approach serves to minimize corruption risks, prevent system abuse, and revitalize ethical conduct within public institutions. Ultimately, the scorecard seeks to ensure good service delivery and foster a culture of integrity across the public sector.

PenCom remains steadfast in its commitment to transparency and accountability within the Nigerian pension industry. This unwavering dedication has translated into a consistent increase in pension assets and other key performance indicators, directly benefiting pension contributors and retirees.
