Dangote Cement Plc has clarified that the ex-factory price of a bag of cement from its factories in Nigeria is N4,010 in Okpella and N4,640 in Ibese, Obajana, and Gboko as of August 28th, 2023.

However, transportation costs and delivery location may lead to prices ranging from N5,000 to N5,300 per bag.

The company made this statement to address the misinformation that it sells cement in Nigeria at much higher prices than other countries, particularly the Republic of Benin.

The Group Managing Director, Mr Arvind Pathak, emphasized the importance of distinguishing ex-factory prices from retail prices and stated that the Company is committed to delivering quality cement at the best possible price despite current inflationary trends.

Pathak said, According to our findings in Cotonou, the financial hub of the Republic of Benin, the price of cement ranges from CFA 3,495 to CFA 4,500. Based on the current exchange rate of CFA 1 to NGN 1.43, this is equivalent to N4,997 to N6,435 per bag. These figures contradict the false claim circulating on social media that cement costs only N1,500 per bag.

Dangote Cement Plc Pathak said, remains dedicated to providing high-quality cement at competitive prices, even in the face of inflation.

Their focus he insisted is on delivering excellent products to their extensive customer base across Africa, accompanied by exceptional customer service. Dangote Cement Plc’s Group Managing Director reaffirmed their commitment to creating an inclusive and sustainable business that benefits all stakeholders involved in the value chain.
