This was disclosed during the commencement of a training session for Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) on budget preparation using the Government Integrated Financial Management Information System – Budget Preparation Subsystem (GIFMIS-BPS).

Speaking at the event, Director General of the Budget Office of the Federation, Tanimu Yakubu, outlined the administration’s top priorities. He highlighted the government’s plan to mobilize resources to expand the economy, emphasizing human capital development and economic reforms. Yakubu also stated that President Tinubu is dedicated to ensuring resources are allocated effectively to address multidimensional poverty and improve infrastructure, ultimately reducing the cost of doing business and attracting investments.

Yakubu noted that national security remains a critical factor for capital accumulation and investor confidence. As part of the administration’s broader goals, empowering Nigerian citizens through the effective mobilization and efficient deployment of development resources has been identified as a key priority.

Acknowledging the significant fiscal challenges facing the country, including insecurity, limited resources, and global economic volatility, Yakubu stressed the need for a more efficient and targeted budgeting process. He emphasized that overcoming these hurdles requires a focused approach to resource allocation.

The training session on the GIFMIS-BPS was organized to equip MDAs with the technological tools necessary to enhance the budgetary process. The system is designed to improve efficiency, eliminate bottlenecks, and promote transparency and accountability in budget preparation and implementation.

Yakubu urged MDAs to align their budget proposals with the administration’s priorities and the overarching goals of the federal government. He also emphasized the importance of adhering to the 2025 Budget Call Circular to avoid errors and ensure a well-structured, purpose-driven budget.

As the nation prepares for the upcoming fiscal year, the Tinubu administration remains focused on delivering a budget that prioritizes economic stability, security, and human development. The ongoing training on the GIFMIS-BPS represents a critical step toward ensuring an efficient, transparent, and goal-oriented budgeting process aligned with Nigeria’s national development agenda.
