Zouera Youssoufou, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the ADF, emphasized their commitment to reaching all local governments before the end of Ramadan. Partnering with credible NGOs, civil societies, and religious bodies is crucial to ensuring the rice reaches the most vulnerable individuals in each region.

The ADF’s core vision is to empower Africans to reach their full potential. They believe everyone deserves a chance to thrive, regardless of their circumstances. This rice distribution initiative reflects that vision by providing much-needed food assistance during a challenging economic period.

The ADF recently launched this food intervention program with flag-off ceremonies in Kano and Lagos. President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, and Chairman of the ADF, was present at both events. Kano and Lagos received initial distributions of 120,000 and 80,000 bags of rice, respectively.

Dangote reaffirmed his commitment to assisting all levels of government in tackling poverty in Nigeria. He views this food intervention program as a crucial step towards addressing the current economic hardship faced by the nation.

Dangote emphasized the importance of compassion and generosity, especially during Ramadan. He urged stakeholders to collaborate with the government in alleviating hunger. “Our distribution of rice symbolizes our commitment to upholding the values of compassion and solidarity, which are at the core of our humanity,” he stated.

Governors from Kano and Lagos states commended Dangote’s initiative. Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, urged other wealthy Nigerians to emulate Dangote’s support in providing relief during difficult economic times. Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, praised the ADF’s prioritization of people’s welfare over profit. He encouraged others to follow Dangote’s lead in supporting the vulnerable.

Fatima Aliko-Dangote, Group Executive Director at Dangote Industries Limited, highlighted that the rice distribution is just one aspect of the ADF’s ongoing efforts. The foundation provides daily bread service across Lagos and has offered breakfast, lunch, and dinner programs in Kano for 35 years. They have also invested in empowering women through business grants.
